So much has happened...

Well, sorry we have not been on to update you all recently. A lot has been taking place in our lives the last month. On December 14, Chris ran his second marathon in 6 weeks. He ran a 5:00:44 time at the White Rock Marathon. Mom, Dad, Sam, Maria and Lisa helped me track him. We had a great time and even enjoyed watching Sam run the last 6 miles with Chris. Good times!

Later that night a few of us went on our annual carriage ride. It was so hot in Dallas it didn't feel like Christmas. The lights were still beautiful - although you could tell that the economy effected the holiday spirit. Some of the most famous holiday setups were not shared this year due to costs. No worries - we had plenty of music to help us compensate for small pieces that were missing.

Chris has been hard at work for the FCA. He uses this time to speak of God and encourage teens to look to him and live their lives for his purpose. He really loves this time with the kids and gets to practice what he loves best - motivational speaking. I believe he did 3-4 speeches in December alone. Chris has also been busy with his ALO job. Several interviews of potential USAFA candidates, a few fairs and evening events.

I have been busy decorating the house for the holidays. Yes, Christmas threw up in our house, but I must say it is very tasteful and festive. Mom and I found several bargains and continue to add to our collection of decor. Chris and the dogs love the lights and charm of the decorations. Yea! I also was a wedding coordinator at the reception for Ellie's sister, Catherine. What a beautiful day. Plus, we were happy that Ellie and the boys made it in from Japan.

We celebrated Xmas Eve at our house with the Ayoub's and had Santa stop by to visit. It was a great time. Sam and Maria stayed the night and headed to Tampa for a little Christmas vacation. The ride home was a bit more stressful; however, waiting in New Orleans is not a bad thing. The next day we had our own celebration and then headed to my parents for a day of Christmas with the family. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end of the day.

We rang in the New Year by eating at Marianos and me being sick. I went to bed early and woke up in time to see the midnight festivities at Victory Park and watch the clock tick 12. Yea for midnight kisses. I told Chris that we will never stay at home again for the New Year. It feels way too weird. No worries though - we left for Vegas the next day and celebrated with a night helicopter ride over the strip. Very cool! Video poker which kicked my butt the first day and showed Chris some love (roles reversed the next day). We ate at Del Monico's - Emeril's restaurant. Drank the free stuff, walked all over the city, ate all you can eat sushi, and took in a Cirque show - Zumanity. A fun time and get away for us!

Now we are both back at work and enjoying 2009 and the plans we have made. A healthy year for the both of us. Upgrades to the house - thanks Adam for the new floor in the sun room. Military continuing education. Weddings in Houston, Colorado Springs, Austin, Dallas and Cancun. A trip to Japan to see the Maryan's. And much much more.

We wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous 2009! May God be with you all!

BTW, Chris was listed on ESPN as a Dallas finisher of the NYC Marathon. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=trackandfield&id=3679188
